Congress and CPI join hands to attack BJP MP Suresh Gopi: Allegation of massive tampering of voter list in Thrissur LS elections
THRISSUR: Congress and CPI have alleged that illegal vote addition was done in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency. Former minister V.S. Sunil Kumar has demanded an investigation into the allegations of irregularities in the voter list in Thrissur. Sunil Kumar said in a press conference that the technical problem that arose when he accessed the commission's website the other day is suspicious. "Despite a written complaint being filed with the Election Commission, no action was taken. It is doubtful whether the complaint received by Krishna Teja, who was the former collector and Chief Electoral Officer, was forwarded to the higher levels. Krishna Teja went to the team of the Deputy Chief Minister of a BJP-ruled state immediately after the election. All the votes in Thrissur were added only in the final phase. Voters from Alathur and Tripunithura constituencies were added to Thrissur. It is the Election Commission that should clear up the doubts in the voter list in Thrissur," V.S. Sunil Kumar said. Sunil Kumar also demanded an investigation into the incidents in the Thrissur Lok Sabha elections.
DCC President Joseph Tajet said that 11 votes from Suresh Gopi's house were added in Thrissur during the election. 'The residents in the voter list are no longer in that house. Candidate Suresh Gopi and his family came to Thrissur to add their votes ahead of the election,' DCC President Joseph Tajet said in a press conference.
"The house in Nettissery was where Suresh Gopi lived when he contested in both Lok Sabha elections and the assembly elections. The vote addition in Ward Number 30 was done in the final stages of election. Complaints were filed during the election itself regarding the votes of 45 people. The Collector then took the position that those whose names are in the voter list can vote. An independent investigation is needed in this regard. The BJP itself claimed at that time that about 65,000 votes were added. About fifty complaints were filed regarding 10 apartments at that time," said Joseph Tajet.
