KOTHAMANGALAM: “Despite his ill intentions forcing my daughter to convert religion, she loved him dearly”, said Bindu, mother of Sona Eldhose. Bindu was lost for words to describe the loss of her daughter, whom she brought up by doing toiling work as a domestic help.

“Even when Rameez was arrested for a lodge, Sona decided to stay with him. Before that, Sona was ready to convert to religion as per Rameez' wish. However, after the police arrest incident, Sona changed her stance. Sona agreed to register the marriage and move to some other place with Rameez. He agreed to this plan, but later insisted that she convert her religion first. Even hours before death, Sona had sent the suicide note to her mother-in-law.

What is the point of arresting Rameez, lodging him in jail and providing him with good food? Nobody can give back my daughter,” said Bindu.

Sona even sent a message to Bindu’s phone about her decision to end life. It was accompanied by a voice message. Bindu, who was at work, checked her phone only during the afternoon. Shaken by the details of the message, Bindu hired an auto and rushed to her home, but it was too late.
