Man mauled to death by neighbor’s Pitbull in Chennai

CHENNAI: A 55-year-old man died after mauled to death by his neighbour’s Pitbull. The tragic incident happened at Jafferkhanpet in Chennai the other day. The man identified as T Karunakaran (48), who sustained serious injuries died on the spot itself. The Pitbull owned by Poongodi (48) was not leashed when it attacked the victim. Poongodi also sustained injuries while trying to control the dog. She is under treatment and the police said that she will be arrested after discharged.

Karunakaran was mauled when he was returning home after work. No one could overpower the dog but they managed to pull the dog away. Eyewitnesses said the attack was brutal and it bit the victim’s private parts. The neighbors said they had earlier requested the owner to shift the dog citing safety concerns in the street, but their appeals went unheeded. The veterinary officials later captured the Pitbull and is kept under observation at the Animal Birth Center in Kannammapet.
