'Shafi Parambil protected Rahul, did not respond even after being informed about complaint'; Congress workers file complaint against MP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the resignation of Rahul Mamkootathil as Youth Congress state president over the obscene message row, pressure is now mounting on Shafi Parambil. Allegations have surfaced that Shafi shielded Rahul and influenced the party to field him as a candidate in Palakkad. A section of Congress workers from the district has lodged a complaint with the party high command, accusing Shafi of failing to act even after being made aware of the charges. So far, Shafi has not responded to the controversy and is currently staying at his flat in Delhi.

Meanwhile, widespread protests are staged across the state against Rahul. In Paravur, DYFI workers marched to Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan’s office, accusing him too of protecting Rahul. The protest turned violent as activists tried to breach police barricades and storm the office premises, pelting stones and sticks. Staff members were allegedly assaulted during the unrest. Protesters also overturned the office board, doused it with black oil, and set it on fire. Following this, Congress workers staged a road blockade, accusing the police of colluding with the attackers.
