'Approached me several times with sexual intentions, promised to marry but later backed out, even threatened to commit suicide'; another woman accuses Rahul Mamkootathil of sexual misconduct

KOCHI: Another young woman has come forward with allegations against Rahul Mamkootathil. She said Rahul used a timer for his chats so that messages would disappear immediately after being read. According to her, Rahul approached her several times with sexual intentions, promising marriage, but later backed out. She also alleged that he threatened to commit suicide if she pressured him. The woman has released chat messages to support her claims. She is currently working outside Kerala. She said she decided to speak out after many others began sharing similar experiences.

The woman said Rahul first contacted her on Instagram in 2023. He then took her phone number and later shifted the conversation to Telegram. He expressed his love and soon promised marriage, but later began approaching her with sexual intentions. He also sent her obscene messages multiple times. Eventually, he withdrew from the promise of marriage and threatened that he would commit suicide if she pressured him further. Realising that there were many victims like her, she decided to speak openly.

When she warned that she would file a complaint, Rahul allegedly replied, “I don’t care, who cares.” The incident happened before he became an MLA. The woman said she did not file a complaint earlier because of Rahul’s political influence. She also claimed to know several others who had gone through similar experiences.
