Good news for employees on Onam: New instalment of DA along with salary in September; relief for pensioners
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister K.N. Balagopal announced that a new instalment of dearness allowance has been granted to government employees and teachers in Kerala. One instalment of dearness relief has been granted to service pensioners. Staff covered under the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), medical services and others will also get the benefit of the DA/DR increase. The new benefit will start being received along with salary and pension from September 1.
This will increase the government's annual expenditure by about Rs 2,000 crore. The minister said that the government is committed to its employees and pensioners. This is he second instalment of DA and DR that has been granted this year. Two instalments were granted last year. It was the second Pinarayi Vijayan government that provided the benefits of the improved salary reform announced despite the economic crisis during the Covid period. Benefits, including DA, were provided in cash at the beginning of the 2021-22 financial year.
