Bold decision that no other political party in Kerala would take, no one said Rahul will resign: V D Satheesan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan called the Congress party’s action against Rahul Mamkootathil a bold and commendable decision. He said that it was the best decision that a political party in Kerala could take. Lashing out at the CPM, he asked why the CPM was not ready to take any action against some of its leaders despite the police registering cases against them.

"Did anyone say that Rahul Mamkootathil would resign? This is the first time in Kerala that a political party is implementing such a strict action. Despite not receiving a complaint or evidence, we took action within 24 hours. Rahul Mamkootathil has been suspended from the party and the parliamentary party," Satheesan said.

"I saw Minister MB Rajesh's response regarding the matter. A CPM leader, who is an accused in a rape case, is still holding the post of MLA. Don't yoy feel shame? A high committee member of the BJP is also accused in a POCSO case. We can point out all these things. They haven't taken any action. You should ask the questions you are asking me to the Chief Minister as well. They are the ones who are not taking any action despite cases being registered," he said.

"The party took quick action because of its respect for women. We took action against one of the important and foremost leaders of the party. No other political party in Kerala can take such a bold action," Satheesan added.
