Two major victories to gain dominance

Operation Sindoor, the counter-offensive against Pakistan in response to the dastardly Pahalgam attack, lasted four days. In return, Pakistan used missiles and bombs using drones, but India's Akash air defense system and the Russian-made S-400 thwarted all those henious plans. Israel was saved from missile attacks by Iran and Hamas by their Iron Dome defense. In modern warfare, nothing carries more weight or leverage than the bulwark of a formidable air defense system. India’s new air defense system, under the leadership of DRDO, conducted the successful test at Chandipur on the Odisha coast at 12.30 pm on Saturday. It is nothing short of a big step for India to emerge among the ranks of elite countries with lethal military prowess.

The first test of India's Integrated Air Defence Weapon System, which can simultaneously defend against enemy drones and missiles, was successful as a result of the hard work of scientists. Two unmanned drones and a multi-copter drone, which were flying rapidly in different directions and at different altitudes, were neutralised in the test. The test in Chandipur ensured the fine working of the missile system, the system command and control system, the system for detecting and destroying drones, and the radars for capturing and monitoring signals. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that this test demonstrated the country's multi-layered air defense capability.

India's indigenously built air defense system has three main features. The most important of them is the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile. It can destroy anything flying at an altitude of up to ten kilometres. Up to six missiles can be used in a launcher. As soon as an enemy aircraft or missile is detected by the radar, a message is sent to the command and control. As soon as this is received, the missile is fired. There is also a tracker system to identify and destroy the target. Another feature of this is the Advanced Very Short Range Air Defense System, which neutralises low-flying enemy aircraft and helicopters. This missile can be launched with the help of a tripod or on the shoulder. It can also find and destroy the target itself. The third feature is the laser-based directed energy weapon. This is a laser-based weapon to defend against small missiles and drones. This can also destroy enemy aircraft using an intense laser beam.

The total cost of the project is Rs 4800 crore. India's new system, when effective, will be more mighty than the air defense systems of Israel and Russia. India’s air territory will soon become a no-go zone for cantankerous neighbours. On another note, the country also achieved success in Gaganyaan, India's dream mission to send humans into space. The integrated air drop test, which ensures the safety of the spacecraft after the mission, was completed on Monday. A test was conducted to gradually reduce the speed of the crew module using parachutes. Two pivotal successes in the aviation field in a span of a few days are something truly for the country and the proud scientists to cheer about.
