"Meera Jasmine entered a temple where non-Hindus were not allowed; she did something as atonement"
Social media influencer and former Bigg Boss star Jasmine Jaffer was caught in controversy after she washed her feet at the Guruvayur temple's Rudra Theertham pond and filmed a reel. Following the incident, a cleansing ritual (Punyaham) was performed in the temple and the temple pond. Now, director Alleppey Ashraf has come out with a response to the issue.
'In 2006, famous actress Meera Jasmine alias Jasmine Mary Joseph entered the Rajarajeshwari temple in Taliparamba and prayed with devotion. It was a temple that was not open to non-Hindus. The issue became a big controversy. That act led to protests by Hindu believers. Finally, Meera Jasmine ended the issue by confessing her mistake and paying a fine of ten thousand rupees to perform shudhikalasham there. That was big news at that time.
Now, another Jasmine is caught in controversy. Jasmine has been in controversy before. She filmed herself washing her feet in the pond of the Guruvayur temple and posted a reel on Instagram. This hurt the religious sentiments of Hindu believers. Aarattu of Lord Krishna is performed in this temple pond. The reel of her washing her feet in the sacred pond, which is part of the temple, was filmed.
The High Court has banned video filming in the Guruvayur temple. However, video filming can be done for religious ceremonies and marriages if prior permission is obtained. It is a well-known fact that non-Hindus are not allowed in Guruvayur. Even Yesudas, who sang in praise of Guruvayurappan and Ayyappan, has not been able to enter there and pray to the Lord yet. Don't forget that all religious believers have their own rituals. We all live here in harmony because we respect that faith.
"The so-called social media influencers entering the temple without permission and filming a video in a restricted area are in no way justifiable. Are they influencing people by doing something that should not be done? If this act had been done in UP, a bulldozer would have come to Jasmine's house and demolished it. In addition, a hundred and fifty cases would have been charged against her. I don't think she would ever see the light of day again in that case. We would have seen a video of her being beaten and dragged along the road.
Actress Meera Jasmine entered the Taliparamba temple out of devotion and faith to pray. She apologized and atoned for unknowingly violating the custom. Jasmine Jafar did it to make money by making reels."
