SI Ratheesh found guilty in Peechi police assault case, criticized for not taking action 

THRISSUR: No action was taken even after finding sub inspector Ratheesh guilty in the incident of assaulting hotel owner and his son. Sasidharan who was then Thrissur additional SP had demanded strict action against Ratheesh in the report handed over to northern region IG K Sethuraman last year. However, no action was taken citing technical reasons. Ratheesh was promoted and is still in charge of law and order. Immediately after the incident, hotel owner K P Ousep filed a complaint with the city police commissioner.

The incident related to the case happened on May 24, 2023. The sub inspector assaulted K P Ousep, his son and a hotel employee. The assault followed a complaint filed by Dinesh of Vandazhi in Palakkad and his relative. The complaint was received at the station over a dispute in connection with the quality of the biryani served in the hotel. However, a video of the hotel staff manhandling the complainants surfaced. Ousep and the driver had reached the police station to file a complaint about the incident. Ousep had also alleged that an attempt was made to settle the case by demanding Rs 5 lakh.
