CM's silence on custodial assault is suspicious; suspension is not enough, criminals in police should be expelled: VD Satheesan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that it is puzzling that the Chief Minister, who is in charge of the Home Department, is continuing to remain silent despite the information and evidence coming out about the brutal assault by a group of criminals in the police. "The Chief Minister and the government should not think that the action against the policemen who beat up Youth Congress constituency president Sujith in Kunnamkulam can be limited to suspension. The Congress and the UDF will continue the protest until the accused policemen are dismissed from service," he said.
"Even before the scenes of police brutality came to the public, people including high-ranking officials had seen it. Yet, the accused were being protected. This is proof that the Chief Minister has lost control over the Home Department," he added. "The Chief Minister's office is under the control of a gang of crooks. There has never been a Chief Minister in history who has not responded to allegations in his own department. The Chief Minister should be prepared to break his silence on the incident that has brought shame to the entire state," Satheesan said.
