Liquor policy and police atrocities: CPI organizational report criticises and expresses dissatisfaction
ALAPPUZHA: The CPI's work report criticized the government's liquor policy and expressed dissatisfaction with the police atrocities. Secretary Binoy Viswam presented the organizational report and political report together at the state conference.
There is no serious attack on the Home Department, even when the police's behaviour is criticized for drawing major criticism. It is said that action should be taken to prevent such actions by the police from recurring. The government is interested in foreign liquor. It is taking many policy measures related to that sector. However, such measures are not being taken for the common toddy workers. The government is showing neglect towards the toddy industry sector.
The second government has not been able to take sufficient measures to have a big impact on the people and attract them. Although the base of the Left Front is poor workers, the Front has not been able to work effectively for their welfare. The report also expresses a lack of confidence in the functioning of the Agriculture Department. Many promises made in the last election have not been fulfilled.
Left Front should be strengthened
The report says that the Left Front needs to be further strengthened in the new political situation in Kerala. Meetings are currently being held only at the state and district levels. The front's activities should be accelerated to the grassroots level. All sections of the people who are part of the Left Front should be able to rally together. A program of action should be devised to achieve a big victory in the upcoming local body and assembly elections. It faced a huge setback in the last Lok Sabha elections. The BJP candidate was able to win in the Thrissur seat. The report also says that the BJP's significant vote gain in several assembly constituencies should be taken seriously.
