THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shocking details have emerged of a case where the police allegedly assaulted three youths after they questioned officers who had entered a house by jumping over a compound wall. The incident took place in December last year, and the accused officers have been identified as CI Shibu and SI Kiran. The youths were reportedly beaten, framed in a false case, and sent to jail. The revelation comes close on the heels of similar allegations of police assault in Kunnamkulam and Peechi.

The victims are Sharath and Sharan, brothers from Kottumukal, Maranalloor, and their friend Vinu. On the night of December 22, they noticed four men jumping over the wall of their neighbour Vinod’s house. When they intervened, a man in police uniform stepped out and informed them that the intruders were plainclothes officers conducting a ganja investigation.

The three were then taken into custody, where they were allegedly subjected to brutal torture at the station. Police later booked them on charges of obstructing official duty.

According to the victims, the officers forced their heads down between their legs, struck them with coconuts, and sprayed pepper into their eyes and mouths. “CI Shibu pulled our private parts and sprayed pepper as if enjoying it. He also struck our backs with his elbow. When he got tired, SI Kiran continued the assault,” they said.

The youths claimed their imprisonment disrupted both their jobs and personal lives. They further alleged that the officers approached them for a settlement after they initiated legal proceedings.
