PATHANAMTHITTA: A medical negligence has been alleged against the Pathanamthitta General Hospital. The hospital has been accused of serious negligence in treating a seven-year-old boy, who came with an injured hand. The complaint was filed by Manoj of Omallur. The serious allegation is raised against the hospital in Health Minister Veena George' constituency.

Manoj's son Manu was brought to the hospital with a bruised hand. However, without treating it, the doctor plastered his hand and it got worse and ulcerated. When he was brought to the hospital again due to severe pain, Manoj was advised to take him to Kottayam Medical College.

Manu fell from his bicycle two weeks ago and injured his palm. He was brought to the hospital after experiencing severe pain. The doctor plastered his hand saying that he had fractured his bone. He was later sent home. However, when he reached home, the pain was unbearable and pus was coming from his hand.

Manoj said that when they came to see the same doctor again, they were sent back saying that it would be painful. Later, when blood and pus came, they were referred to Kottayam Medical College. As per the advice of another doctor, the child was taken to a private hospital in Thiruvalla.

The child's hand was seriously bruised. The doctor treating him presently said that the boy was plastered without considering this and that is why pus had formed. The boy was later subjected to a surgery on his hand. The hospital authorities in Thiruvalla said the boy’s condition is improving.
