Chhetri is back! Malayali talent Muhammed Suhail also in Khalid Jamil's 30 probables for AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers

NEW DELHI: Indian head coach Khalid Jamil has named 30 probables for the October FIFA International Window, and veteran Indian striker Sunil Chhetri has found a place in the list. On his first mission after taking the helm of affairs in the Indian national squad, Khalid preferred fresh talents over the experienced senior players to travel to Uzbekistan for the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA). Sunil Chhetri was thus omitted, which raised many eyebrows. While addressing the issue, Khalid termed Chhetri as the best striker presently in India and justified his decision, saying that CAFA was an ideal tournament for youngsters to make a mark.

Ahead of facing Singapore in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, the preparatory camp will begin in Bengaluru on September 20th. Players of Mohun Bagan Super Giant and FC Goa, the teams part of the AFC Champions League 2, will join the camp later.

Goalkeepers: Amrinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.

Defenders: Anwar Ali, Bikash Yumnam, Chinglensana Singh Konsham, Hmingthanmawia Ralte, Muhammed Uvais, Pramveer, Rahul Bheke, Ricky Meetei Haobam, Roshan Singh Naorem.

Midfielders: Ashique Kuruniyan, Danish Farooq Bhat, Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, Jithin MS, Macarton Louis Nickson, Mahesh Singh Naorem, Mohammed Aimen, Nikhil Prabhu, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Vibin Mohanan.
