Politician, top education department official among 14 accused in sexually assaulting minor boy, say police
KASARGOD: A politician, a top official of the education department and RPF officials are among those who sexually assaulted a minor boy under Chandera police station limits. Eight people have been arrested in the incident. A POCSO case has been registered against 14 people. As five of them are from outside the district, the case has been transferred to the relevant police stations.
After establishing a relationship with the child through a dating app, he was taken to various places inside and outside the district and sexually assaulted. The accused are from Kasaragod, Kannur and Kozhikode. The incident came to light after the 16-year-old’s mother saw one of the accused. He immediately fled from the spot. His mother then filed a complaint with the Chandera police and the boy was produced at the Child Line and questioned and then the information of the assault was exposed.
It is reported that the boy had been a victim of sexual assault for two years. 14 cases have been presently registered. Of these, eight are in Kasaragod alone. It is also reported that the boy was paid money after the assault. The investigation into the case is being led by four inspectors.
