Narendra is a close friend, says Trump; world leaders wish Modi on his birthday, massive celebrations in Delhi
NEW DELHI: World leaders have extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is celebrating his 75th birthday today. US President Donald Trump called Modi in person and wished him a happy birthday. This is the first time since June 16 that both have talked on the phone. Trump extended his wishes by addressing Modi as 'Narendra'. He said that Narendra is his close friend.
During the phone conversation, Trump pointed out Modi's commitment to strengthening India-US ties and his support for peacefully resolving the Ukraine conflict. Narendra Modi replied that he is committed to taking India-US ties and partnership to new heights.
Meanwhile, the central government and the BJP will launch a two-week-long celebration in connection with Modi's 75th birthday. On his birthday, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the country's first PM MITRA Textile Park in Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh. He will also launch the process of transferring money directly to the accounts of 10 lakh women as part of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Modi will also launch the Suman Sakhi Chatbot to raise awareness about the health of mothers and children.
More than one lakh health camps will be organised across the nation in connection with the Prime Minister's birthday. Under the leadership of the BJP, blood donation camps will be organised across the country. BJP has also announced that it will observe 'Seva Pakhwada' from September 17 to October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, as a tribute to Modi's leadership.
