WASHINGTON: An Indian techie was shot dead by the police in Santa Clara, California. The dead is Mohammed Nizamuddin (32) from Telangana. The cops said they shot him after he stabbed his roommate with a knife earlier this month. However, his family alleged racial discrimination and demanded an investigation on his death.

The police shot Mohammed Nizamuddin on September 3 after he was found in his residence in Santa Clara with a knife. The police reached there on being informed about a stabbing incident. His roommate had sustained serious injuries. Following this, the police shot him. The injured Nizamuddin was taken to the hospital but died later. The victim is still under treatment. Nizamuddin had pursued a Masters in Computer Science at a Florida college and was working at a tech firm in Santa Clara in California. He was a quiet and religious person, and had even publicly raised complaints of racial harassment, wage fraud and wrongful termination from the job, his family said. His family have demanded a thorough investigation on the incident.

His body is kept in the hospital in Santa Clara. His family has sought the help of foreign ministry to bring his body home.
