Headmaster arrested for beating education officer with belt
LUCKNOW: A headmaster was arrested for attacking a top education officer with a belt. The headmaster thrashed Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) with belt over an argument that broke out. The incident happened at the BSA office in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur. The CCTV footage has emerged. The headmaster of Mahmudabad Nadwa Primary School identified as Bijendra Kumar Verma brutally attacked the BSA officer Akhilesh Pratap Singh.
He was summoned to the BSA office to give an explanation on some complaints lodged against him. Brijendra Kumar came at the BSA office to give his clarification on the complaint filed against him by a woman teacher. A heated exchange broke out after the BSA was not satisfied with his explanation. In a fit of rage, Verma slammed a file on the BSA’s desk, took his belt and beat him many times. Seeing this, another officer there moved backwards.
An officer tried to intervene and stop him, but failed in his efforts. Later more officers reached and calmed him down. When Singh tried to call the police, Verma snatched his mobile phone and smashed it.
Brijendra Kumar had served a notice to a teacher at his school for negligent behaviour. When someone shared this notice in political groups, there was a demand for action against Brijendra Kumar. He was summoned to the BSA office to give an explanation. Reports said Brijendra Kumar attacked after the authorities warned him not to repeat such acts.
The BSA officer had filed a complaint against the headmaster at the Kotwali Nagar police station in the incident. He was reportedly arrested on the spot. A national media reported that Brijendra Kumar has been suspended by the education department. The BSA has approached the education department, demanding that the accused be dismissed from his job, saying that the act was a serious breach of discipline.
