THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V D Satheesan said the Congress has the same stand with all communities. While talking to the media, he said the Congress has a secular stand with everyone.

‘If we had participated in the Global Ayyappa Sangamam, we would have been a bigger laughing stock than Pinarayi Vijayan. It was a political decision taken earlier by the UDF. We stand firm on it. We believe that our decision was right. Community organizations including the NSS can take their own decision and that is their freedom. We have no objection to it. What does the election have to do with it. All this is a stand when an issue arises.

When the meeting there flopped, everyone understood that our decision was right. Each political party will do many things to win the election. That is their own choice. They can influence anyone they want. Kerala is a state where they have freedom for that.

After that programme, it was underlined that the UDF's decision was correct. Everyone realized what a hypocrisy had taken place there. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was acting as a false admirer. He was fooling the people. He cheated the believers. The UDF in Kerala has no dispute with the NSS, SNDP or any other community organizations. We have no complaint about their stance. We have a stand. When rituals were being violated in Sabarimala, we were there to protect it.

What a shameful act the government has done. With the support of the police, two women were brought to Sabarimala under the cover of darkness to violate the rituals. Kerala has seen all this. Our question is what change has the Pinarayi government made from that stance then. If there is any change, the first thing to do is to withdraw the affidavit in the Supreme Court. The second thing to do is to withdraw the case against the devotees,' he said.
