Expect the unexpected! Agni-Prime missile fired from train, India achieves rare feat
NEW DELHI: This can be launched from a train and even precisely hit the target that is 2,000 km away. India's Agni Prime ballistic missile test was successfully conducted on Thursday.
With this, India became the fourth country to be able to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile from a truck and a train simultaneously. The other countries to achieve this feat are Russia, the US and China.
The test was successfully conducted from a specially designed train with a launcher system. Agni Prime is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. The test was conducted jointly by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Strategic Forces Command (SFC). The DRDO described the achievement as a 'game changer'.
- The sixth intercontinental missile in the Agni range. Tests from a truck were previously successful
- The launcher can be transported by train without anyone noticing
- This can even evade the eyes of the enemy's satellites. Can strike the enemy when they are least expecting it
- It can be deployed secretly at various places during war. Can be stored in advance in places with train connectivity
Congratulations to those who worked behind the experiment. The result has raised the country's prestige —Rajnath Singh, India’s Defence Minister.
