Two youths killed in car-lorry collision

KOTTAYAM: Two youths travelling in a car were killed when their vehicle collided with a lorry. The victims have been identified as Murthasa Alin Rasheed (27), son of T M Rasheed of Daru Subah House in Karippadom and Ridhik Muhammed (29), son of Abu of Vaikkom Pulimthuruthu. The incident happened late last night at Thalappara Kongini Mukku. The third person, who was in the car, has been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.

The accident occurred when the lorry carrying refrigerator to Kottayam from Ernakulam collided with the car coming from the opposite direction. Ridhik, who was abroad, returned home and was engaged in some business. Both were bachelors. The accident happened when Ridhik was going to Murthasa’s firm in Vettikattu Mukku from his house in Vaikkom.

The car has been completely damaged in the accident. The front part of the lorry was also damaged. Following the incident, traffic was disrupted on the Thalayolaparambu-Ernakulam route for several hours. Alin Rasheed's funeral will be held at the Muhiuddin Jama Masjid in Karippadom. He leaves behind his mother Sajitha Rasheed and siblings Rithu Rasheed and Raisali Rasheed. Ridhik’s funeral will be held at the Nakkamthuruth Juma Masjid in Udayanapuram. Ruksana is his mother and siblings are Amaan and Rizaan.
