Actress Oviya seeks Vijay’s arrest; draws flak
CHENNAI: Actress Oviya demanded the arrest of actor and Tamilagam Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay in connection with the stampede that left 40 people dead at a rally organized by the actor in Karur. The actress shared a story on Instagram demanding that Vijay be arrested. The actress responded by writing 'Arrest Vijay'. However, the actress deleted the story within hours.
She then shared another post in response to the incident. 'Life is a dream for the wise, life is a game for the foolish, it is a joke for the rich, but a tragedy for the poor', the post shared by the actress said. She has drawn flak for her statement and Vijay's fans are cyber-attacking her. Oviya has also shared screenshots of bad comments. Came to hurl abuses, but one comment Oviya received said that seeing the bad comments makes her feel at peace.
Meantime, TVK has promised financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh to those who died in the tragedy. The crucial decision was taken after an emergency meeting of the leaders held online today. The official report said 40 people have died in the tragedy so far. Of these, 17 are women. Four boys and five girls died. The bodies of 35 people have been identified so far. It is reported that 28 of them are natives of Karur. However, Vijay leaving the spot soon after the stampede broke out, have sparked a controversy.
