'False narrative and misinformation'; Actress Kayadu Lohar responds to Karur tragedy

KARUR: The stampede at Karur that killed 40, including children, has bruised the whole nation. Many leaders and cine actors condoled with death, while some others raised criticism at actor Vijay for moving ahead with the rally without caring much about the safety norms. A petition was also filed in the High Court demanding that the court put a stop to the other campaign rally scheduled by TVK and its chief, Vijay.

Amidst this hullabaloo over the Karur incident, fans of Vijay and TVK supporters filled caustic comments and threats under the social media page of actress Kayadu Lohar after a tweet purported to be hers lamenting TVK’s politics and the Karur tragedy went viral.

However, hours after the vile online attack from TVK supporters, Kayadu Lohar cleared the air over the incident.

Kayadu on X:

The Twitter account circulating posts under my name is fake. I have no connection with it, and the statements made there are not mine.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident at the Karur rally, and my heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones.

However, I want to make it very clear that I do not have any personal friends in Karur, and the narrative being spread in my name is false. Please do not believe or circulate this misinformation.

Once again, my prayers are with the families who are grieving.
