THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The banks across Kerala will remain closed for three consecutive days. The holidays are from September 30-Durga Ashtami, October 1-Mahanavami and October 2-Gandhi Jayanthi.

So, customers are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly and utilize alternative services during this period. Withdraw money in advance for emergency purposes. Since many of these are national holidays, travelers should also be careful. Keep enough money in hand as there is a possibility of ATMs running out of cash. It is not necessary to refill ATMs on time since the banks remain closed for three consecutive days.

The government had earlier declared a public holiday on September 30 for government, semi-government, public sector institutions and all educational institutions including professional colleges in the state as part of the Navratri celebrations in the state. The holiday has been declared on Tuesday on the occasion of pooja kept on Monday evening. However, since the assembly session is being held on the 30th, the holiday is not applicable to officials in charge of the assembly.
