Superstition about sexual intercourse with virgin girl who had recently reached puberty; class VI student put for sale
BENGALURU: The Gang that put a class VI student for sale online has been arrested. The incident took place in Vijayanagara, Karnataka. A 12-year-old girl was put for sale through WhatsApp. Shobha and her accomplice Tulsi Kumar were arrested in the incident. The sale was carried out by spreading the message that having sex with a minor girl who had recently reached puberty would cure mental illness.
The accused were caught after the sale attempt came to the attention of an NGO. The organisation Odanadi Seva Samsthe informed the police as soon as they came to know about it. Police say that a big racket is operating behind the sale.
The sales team had circulated the girl's visuals on WhatsApp. The police also found that the accused tried to contact the parents of some of the mentally ill people, emphasising the superstitious belief that having sexual intercourse with a young virgin girl will cure many mental illnesses. 'Odanadi Seva Samsthe' workers who saw the advertisement contacted Shobha. Pretending to be a customer, the NGO staff asked her to bring the child to Mysore. As per the agreement, Shobha and Tulsi Kumar arrived with the minor girl. The organization activists had informed the police in advance about this.
Shobha has demanded Rs 20 lakh to arrange sex with the minor girl. The organization activists stalled the accused, demanding that the price be reduced. The police were rounding up the location at this moment. The police swung into action at the right moment, took the girl into custody, and arrested Shobha and Tulsi Kumar. The rescued girl was handed over to a children's home, while the police produced the accused before the judge, who remanded them in judicial custody.
