Abusive language and profanity at syndicate meeting of University: BJP member files complaint against Left member
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP member P.S. Gopakumar has filed a complaint with the VC alleging that Left member Muraleedharan used abusive language and yelled profanity at him in the Syndicate Standing Committee meeting of the University of Kerala. The incident took place at 11 am on Friday when the Planning and Development Standing Committee met in the Syndicate Room.
Twelve out of the 16 agendas were discussed and decided. Syndicate member and Finance Committee Convener G Muraleedharan got provoked while considering the thirteenth agenda regarding the construction of a new seminar hall for the Sanskrit department. He was the chairman of the meeting. Muraleedharan asked the staff 'Who had approved this agenda'. When he received the reply that it was the Registrar who had approved it, Muraleedharan asked, "Which Registrar?" When Gopakumar replied, "The university has only one Registrar, right? So the question of which Registrar is irrelevant", Muraleedharan shouted at him, "Who are you to say this..." Gopakumar's complaint states that action should be taken against Muraleedharan for making the bad remarks. Gopakumar's complaint may be handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, the Cantonment Police recorded the statements of the VC and the Registrar on the complaint that the minutes of the last syndicate meeting were edited. The VC explained that this complaint is baseless since the minutes of the syndicate meeting are to be prepared by the Registrar and approved by the VC. The Registrar also gave a similar statement.
The statement of the complainant Dr. Lenin was taken the other day. The complaint is that the minutes recorded that the registrar discussed the suspension of Dr. Anil Kumar. However, Lenin testified that there was no such discussion in the meeting. The complainant Dr. Lenin says that the syndicate edited the minutes for selfish interests without his knowledge. He also demanded that a case be filed under the sections of cheating, falsification of official documents and conspiracy.
