'Dialled my wife after reading Kantara script; Mammootty texted me later', Actor Jayaram responds
Kantara: A Legend, Chapter 1, written and directed by Rishabh Shetty, is en route to becoming the next big thing from South India following positive response from the public and critics. The film collected Rs 60 crore from 8000 screenings on its first day alone.
The film entered the 100 crore club in just two days. Apart from the protagonists of the movie, Malayalam actor Jayaram awed the audience with his sublime performance. Jayaram celebrated Kantara's success by cutting a cake on the sets of his new Malayalam film. While responding to online media, the actor talked about the congratulatory message he received from Mammootty following the film’s massive success.
Jayaram:
“I’m very happy now. Just one minute before, I saw a notification on my phone, and when I checked it was Mammootty’s message. He watched the movie and praised my performance. It is rare for a Malayalam actor to be part of a Rs 1000 crore film like KGF.
I remember the day Rishabh called me for the first time. While interacting, Rishabh talked about how he lived near the Kasaragod border for a long time. He grew up watching Malayalam movies, mostly of Mammootty, Mohanlal and Jayaram. I was surprised when he mentioned my name. Later, I went to hear the story of Kantara. After coming out of the room, I dialled my wife. The story was exceptional, and I couldn't contain my excitement.”
