'Understanding needed between partners; don't have any big ambitions now'; Actress Navya Nair responds
In a candid conversation in a YouTube channel interview, actress Navya Nair talked about the unwritten rule in the Malayalam industry that existed earlier, which saw married actresses suddenly fading out from the industry to focus more on their personal lives.
Navya Nair:
“Even I convinced myself that I would quit movies after getting married. I used to tell everyone that I would return if I got any invigorating or challenging roles, but deep inside my conscience, I knew it was over. Right after marriage, I took a hiatus for pregnancy and then to take care of my child. Even the idea of getting back to movies failed to excite me.
I realised that I could do nothing else. I was confused about what to do next. That's when I started dancing and made it a vocation. I truly got involved in dancing that I decided to only act in movies that impressed me much. Due to my old fame as an actress remaining intact, there was no dearth of programs coming my way. I am thankful to god. I don’t have any big ambitions as I am pretty much engaged with dance programs.
On Marriage:
It is understanding, not adjustment, that is needed between partners after the wedding. At that time, I was an actress, independent and had a different perception towards life. It took me nearly five years to understand that most of my understanding was absurd and wrong. The things I believed were right turned out wrong and gave me a course correction. Travelling through different phases of my life helped me understand reality. I am not the same person who talked with you five years back. I feel more mature and relaxed now.”
