Weather will change in coming days; six districts on alert, warning issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD has predicted rain in Kerala for the next five days. Yellow alert has been issued in various districts. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Malappuram are on yellow alert today. The possibility of isolated heavy rain has been predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.

The IMD has informed fishermen not to venture into the sea along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts (16/10/2025 & 17/10/2025). 16/10/2025 & 17/10/2025: Strong winds gusting up to 35 to 45 kmph and at times up to 55 kmph and bad weather likely along the Kerala - Lakshadweep coasts. Alert issued 13/10/2025: Strong winds gusting up to 35 to 45 kmph and at times up to 55 kmph and bad weather likely along the North Andhra Pradesh coast, adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts and adjoining sea areas. 16/10/2025 & 17/10/2025: Strong winds gusting up to 35 to 45 kmph and at times up to 55 kmph and bad weather likely along the Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanyakumari area, Lakshadweep area and adjoining Maldives area.
