Former Kunnamkulam MLA Babu M Palissery passes away aged 67
THRISSUR: Former Kunnamkulam MLA Babu M Palissery (67) passed away on Tuesday. He was undergoing treatment for a long time due to Parkinson’s disease. The former MLA was admitted to Kunnamkulam Unity Hospital two days ago due to severe respiratory problems. He passed away while on a ventilator support.
Babu M Palissery successfully contested as a Left candidate from Kunnamkulam in 2006 and 2011 and became a member of the Legislative Assembly. He was a member of the CPM district secretariat. Babu is known among his peers as an excellent orator. He was also active in the fields of art and culture.
He was born as the eldest son of Kodumunda Pullana Raman Nair, a retired Income Tax officer, and Korattikkara Mullath Amminiamma. When DYFI was formed in 1980, he entered into social service as the first unit president of the outfit in Korattikkara. He became a full-time political activist in 1986 after joining CPM in 1984. Babu, in his political journey, has also served as the DYFI Thrissur district secretary, state executive member, and CPM Kunnamkulam area secretary.
The final rites will be held tomorrow.
