Other construction allowed on land allotted for other purposes: Land Assignment Amendment Act notified
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Land Assignment (Amendment) Act to regularise illegal constructions on pattaya land has been notified. It came into effect from yesterday. Hundreds of constructions in districts, including Idukki, will be regularised with this. The amendment to the rules will allow the use of the land allotted by the government for other purposes, with conditions.
Most of the titles have been issued for house construction and agricultural purposes. Therefore, 95 percent of the buildings will not require regularisation. It was earlier announced that new offices will be opened for regularisation.
Status certificates will suffice if pattaya documents are not available. There is a provision in the rules that gives the government special power to remove new issues during the regularisation process. Steps have also been taken to formulate rules for changing the purpose of use of land acquired through transfer, with prior permission.
