Innova car falls into ten-foot deep ravine: Tragic death for Civil Police Officer's four-month-old baby and mother
THODUPUZHA: Two members of a family, including a four-month-old baby, died after their car fell into a ravine in Muttom Sankarapilly. The deceased were Amina Beevi (58) from Vengallur and her granddaughter Michelle Mariam. The accident took place at 4.45 pm on Sunday.
Five members of the family were returning to Thodupuzha after visiting Vagamon. The Innova car in which the family was travelling lost control near the Sankarapilly bridge, hit a tree on the roadside and fell about ten feet. The driver, Amina Beevi's son KS Shamon (33), CPO of Vellathuval Police Station, his wife Haseena (29), and their eldest daughter Isha (4), were injured in the accident.
Michelle Mariam is the youngest daughter of Shamon and Haseena. Near the accident site is the deep part of the Malankara reservoir. A major tragedy was averted because the car did not fall into it. The rescue operation was carried out by the locals who rushed to the scene after learning about the accident. Shamon and his wife, who are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thodupuzha, are not seriously injured. The bodies have been shifted to Thodupuzha District Hospital. They will be handed over to the relatives on Monday after the postmortem.
