Very heavy rains predicted in Kerala; four districts on orange alert, yellow alert on other districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a possibility of heavy rains in the state. Four districts-- Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode are on orange alert. The forecast is for very heavy rain in isolated places. A yellow alert has also been issued in ten other districts.

The IMD has predicted that very heavy rain will continue in the coming days. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad are on yellow alert tomorrow. On Wednesday, an orange alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam. A yellow alert has also been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

Kozhikode and Wayanad are on orange alert on October 23rd. Yellow alert are in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod. Orange alert has been sounded in Kannur and Kasaragod on October 24 and yellow alert in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.

The State Disaster Management Committee has advised people living in areas prone to landslides, rockfalls and flash floods to move to safer places.
