Senegal goalkeeper kidnapped, murdered for not paying ransom
DAKAR: A young Senegalese footballer was kidnapped and killed after his family failed to pay the ransom demanded. Goalkeeper Cheikh Toure (18) lost his life in the horrific incident. The gang kidnapped the young player after tricking him into signing up for trials at a professional football club in Ghana. The gang had demanded ransom from Toure's parents, but the family was unable to meet the financial demand. This resulted in the gruesome murder.
The Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs confirmed Toure's death on Saturday. The body is being repatriated to Senegal. Touré was a star of the Esprit Foot Yeumbeul Academy in Dakar, Senegal. Senegal's Foreign Ministry launched an investigation in collaboration with Ghanaian police to find the group that kidnapped Toure. The police said the perpetrators would be arrested soon.
