CPI executive and Chief Minister in Alappuzha today
ALAPPUZHA: The CPI state executive is set to meet today to decide on taking strict action, including the possible withdrawal of ministers, over the ongoing PM SHRI controversy. In addition, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will also be present in Alappuzha, making it a politically significant day in the district, which is currently at the centre of Kerala’s political attention.
The meeting coincides with the closing ceremony of the Punnapra–Vayalar anniversary celebrations, jointly observed by both Communist parties (CPI and CPM). The fact that leaders from both parties will share the same stage adds to the political importance of the event.
The CPI executive is expected to take a firm stance against the CPM’s unilateral decision on the PM SHRI issue, which they claim violated frontline coalition norms. If the meeting demands a tougher response, the CPI may move towards strong disciplinary action. The executive meeting, starting at 10 a.m. at the T.V. Memorial building, is expected to conclude by noon. During this time, the Chief Minister will attend public events in Kayamkulam and Thottappally Naluchira, before heading to the Alappuzha government guest house for lunch.
The executive’s decision, especially after review by both parties’ national leaderships, could significantly influence Kerala’s political direction in the coming days.
