JAIPUR: The wife of a government officer in Rajasthan allegedly received salaries totalling Rs 37.54 lakh from two private companies without actually working for them. Reports say she never attended work even for a single day. Pradyuman Dixit, Joint Director in the Information Technology Department of Rajcomp Info Services- a Rajasthan government undertaking- is accused of committing the fraud. He allegedly added his wife, Poonam Dixit’s name, to the employee lists of two private firms and collected lakhs of rupees in her name over a period of two years. The scam came to light after a petition was filed in the Rajasthan High Court.

Following the High Court's directions, the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) began an investigation in July this year. The ACB found that Poonam was listed as an employee in two private companies- Orion Pro Solutions and Trigen Software Ltd- both of which handle government tenders. Dixit had reportedly demanded that his wife be hired and paid a monthly salary in exchange for helping the companies secure government tenders.

According to the ACB, between January 2019 and September 2020, both companies deposited a total of Rs 37,54,405 into Poonam’s five bank accounts as salary. Investigators found that she never attended either office during this period. It was Dixit himself who approved her fake attendance. The ACB also found that both companies received government tenders during the same period.
