Resul Pookutty is Chairman, Cuckoo Parameswaran is Vice-Chairperson: New governing body for Chalachitra Academy ahead of awards announcement
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chalachitra Academy has been reorganised as the Kerala State Film Awards are set to be announced on Monday. Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has been appointed as the chairman of the academy. Cuckoo Parameswaran has been appointed as the vice-chairperson. Resul Pookutty's appointment comes after the resignation of director Ranjith. Vice-chairman Prem Kumar was holding the temporary charge of the chairman.
The new governing body is replacing the current governing body. The government's explanation for this is that the term of the governing body has expired. The new governing body contains 26 members, including Amal Neerad, Shyam Pushkaran, Nikhila Vimal, Sithara Krishna Kumar, Sudheer Karamana, and B. Rakesh.
The Kerala State Film Awards were to be announced on Monday. The announcement of the awards was postponed to Monday due to the incomplete screening of films and the special assembly session tomorrow. Another reason was that the jury chairman, Prakash Raj, had to urgently go to Bengaluru tomorrow.
