THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fables and facts associated with Indian Independence history acknowledge how the British looted valuables from India before the declaration of Independence. And now, after decades, social media is discussing the same topic after three Malayali women candidly 'confronted' a British vlogger in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram.

The video was taken from the Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram and shared by the Instagram account 'Emma'. As per the vlogger, they were sauntering the road towards the temple when three women asked them about their nationality. The vloggers confirmed that they were British. This led to the women rolling back pages from history to remind them of the big loot, including the Kohinoor (the world’s most precious diamond), by the same British from India. Despite being a hot topic of debate, the exchange was purely on a genial note.

“They said English had looted India. Jewellery, spices, everything. It was actually one of the most unexpected moments we've ever had while travelling. We didn't know what to say. What happened during the colonial period was terrible. We understand how much the shadows of colonialism still linger. During the banter, we told them that the matter would be brought before King Charles. But deep down, those words made us think," Emma wrote.

The video has already been viewed by six million people.
