'I killed my wife for you'; Crucial evidence surfaces against husband in doctor's death
BENGALURU: More evidence surfaced against Dr Mahendra Reddy in the murder of female doctor Krithika Reddy. Police said that Mahendra Reddy sent a message to his girlfriend after killing dermatologist Krithika, and evidence of this was recovered.
'I killed my wife for you, ' was the message Mahendra Reddy sent to his girlfriend after the murder. The accused had sent the message through a digital payment app on his mobile phone. The police said that the message was recovered when the mobile phone was subjected to forensic examination.
Mahendra Reddy killed Krithika by injecting her with an overdose of anaesthetic. The police had also said that the accused tried to make the incident look like a natural death using his medical expertise. It took six months after the murder for Krithika’s husband, Mahendra, to get arrested.
Krithika died under mysterious circumstances on April 21. Mahendra Reddy, back then, informed the police that his wife suddenly felt unwell and was rushed to the hospital. However, she was declared 'brought dead' while at the hospital. The police initially registered a case of unnatural death in the incident. Then, a detailed inspection was conducted at the house with the help of a forensic team. Then, a suspicious cannula set and some other medical equipment were recovered during the inspection.
Meanwhile, the doctor's internal organs were sent for chemical testing. Subsequently, the presence of anaesthetic drugs was found in the body. Krithika's father, who became suspicious, approached the police. During the investigation, Mahendra Reddy was taken into custody from Manipal. The couple married on May 26, 2024.
