Gave away boundary soon after taking wicket; skipper Suryakumar Yadav loses his cool at Dube
GOLD COAST: India secured an emphatic win over the Aussies in the fourth T20I match held yesterday at the Carrara Stadium. Losing the toss and batting first, India put up 167 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets. In reply, Australia were bowled out for 119 runs in 18 overs. With this, India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Now, a moment during the match when Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav lost his cool has become a major talking point.
Suryakumar, who is usually calm on the field, was seen getting angry during the match, surprising fans. The incident happened in the last ball of the 12th over, bowled by all-rounder Shivam Dube. Dube had already put pressure on Australia by dismissing Tim David, who attempted to hit a six on the second ball of the over. The next two balls were dot balls, giving India a slight upper hand. However, on the fifth ball, Dube bowled a loose ball, and the Australian batter hit it to the boundary. As the ball raced away, an animated Suryakumar Yadav was seen shouting at Dube in frustration. The captain was unhappy that a boundary was conceded when India was close to sealing the match.
However, India soon regained control and secured the win. In the 17th over, Washington Sundar dismissed Marcus Stoinis (17) and Xavier Bartlett (0) off consecutive deliveries, sealing Australia’s fate. India’s spinners dominated the Australian batting lineup. Washington took three wickets while giving away only three runs in eight balls. Axar Patel and Shivam Dube claimed two wickets each, while Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Varun Chakravarthy took one wicket each. The fifth match will be played tomorrow in Brisbane.
