Dates of Christmas Exams likely to change; to be conducted in two phases
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The dates of Christmas exams in schools are likely to change in the wake of the local body elections. The exams are likely to be conducted in two phases, before and after Christmas holidays. A final decision will be taken at the education quality review committee meeting.
According to the 2025-26 educational calendar, the second-quarter annual examinations were to be conducted from December 11. However, the elections are on December 9 and 11. The counting of votes is on December 13. Therefore, the plan presently is to conduct the exams in two phases, before and after the Christmas holidays.
The decision was taken considering that the majority of the polling stations are schools and the teachers have election duty. In the present situation, the exams can be conducted only after the holidays, voting and counting of votes are over after December 5. Once the election results are out on December 13, there are five working days from 15 to 19 before the Christmas holidays. The Christmas holidays are from 20 to 28. The second phase of exams will have to be conducted in the last days of December and the first week of January.
