Registered gold as copper with knowledge of devaswom board, Vasu's remand report implicates Padma Kumar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The remand report of N Vasu in the Sabarimala gold theft case is a setback for former devaswom board president A Padma Kumar. The report says gold was registered as copper with the knowledge of the devaswom board. Vasu deliberately omitted the mention of gold plating. The remand report clarifies the role of the board.

The investigation team's report also says that Vasu's role is clear from the statements of devaswom board officials and the arrested Unnikrishnan Potty. Vasu knew that the door frame was gold plated. Still, he conspired to turn the gold into copper. The remand report states that the commissioner deliberately omitted the mention of gold plating and the devaswom board took the decision based on this document.

Meantime, former devaswom board president A Padma Kumar has approached the special investigation team seeking time to appear for questioning in the Sabarimala gold theft case. He has approached the special investigation team with a new demand following the death of his close relative. It is reported that he will not be questioned for the next two days.

The investigation team asses that the situation that led to Vasu's arrest also applies to Padma Kkumar. Vasu was arrested the other day in a case related to the gold theft in the door frame. The investigation team informed the court that it was under Vasu's leadership that the gold-plated door frame was marked as copper and given to Unnikrishnan Potty. Padma Kumar was the president at that time. The investigation team has received evidence that Padma Kumar accepted the orders forwarded by Vasu, who was the commissioner. It is being investigated whether this was part of a conspiracy.
