NEW DELHI: The Congress is reeling from its crushing defeat in the Bihar assembly elections. The images of the Congress office in Delhi with no workers also indicate the same. Images of the empty Congress office are now circulating on social media.

Scenes from Bihar depict one of the worst performances of Congress in recent times. Congress had won only 19 of the 70 seats it had bargained for in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections. Even Bihar Congress President Rajesh Kumar is among the candidates who suffered heavy defeats this time. The Congress was the first to launch the campaign for the Bihar elections months in advance. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had alleged that there was massive vote rigging under the guise of SIR, which had led to huge discussions. However, this election result indicates that the people of Bihar rejected the "Vote Chori" and related allegations without taking them at face value.

BJP, which won 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, has the support of 293 MPs, including 16 from the Telugu Desam Party and 12 from the Janata Dal (United). The NDA managed to win 30 out of 40 seats in Bihar. The Assembly victory will help in securing these MPs from Bihar at the Centre. The NDA believes that this victory will be a strength in the upcoming Assam and Bengal elections as well.
