Eminent scientific thinker Prof. V K Damodaran passes away
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Director of the Kerala Department of Science, Technology and Environment and scientific thinker Professor V.K. Damodaran (85) passed away. He was also a life member of the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad. Damodaran passed away at 12.40 am on Saturday at the PRS Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. Public viewing will be held at the Thycaud Bharat Bhavan from 8 am to 12 pm on Sunday. The mortal remains will then be taken to his home in Poojappura. The funeral will be held at the Thycaud Shantikavadam at 2 pm.
Prof Damodaran was born in Kozhikode to Freedom fighter Vadakara V.P. Kutty and M.P. Mathu.

Wife: P.C. Ranjini, children: Shinju (Managing Partner, Newscape Consulting, US), Dr Anju D. (Paediatrics, PRS Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram), daughters-in-law: Diya (PNC Bank, US), Dr Deepak Unnithan (Orthopaedics, Neyyar Medicity, Govindan's Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram).
Damodaran had also served as Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government in the Electricity Department, Controller of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Biotechnology, and Assistant. Director of the Kerala Bhasha Institute, and Member of the Executive Committee of the ANERT. He has authored more than twenty books. He is also a recipient of numerous awards, including the IEEE Global Meritorious Award, the TMA Gold Medal, and the Management Leadership Award.
