KANNUR: The family of Booth Level Officer (BLO) Aneesh George, who committed suicide due to intense work pressure, stepped forward rejecting the claim of the collector that he was not under any work pressure. The collector in a press release said Aneesh was not under any work pressure and was a person who fulfilled all his responsibilities. However, the family of Aneesh has rejected this claim. His brother-in-law Shaiju told a media that he took the extreme step due to the heavy workload in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

'Aneesh had doubts whether he would be able to complete the work on time. He was under pressure from various political parties. He had told his family about the work pressure. He used to eat only very little food. He could not even take his sick child to the hospital. He had not slept for three to four days,' said Shaiju.

He was asked to complete 100 percent distribution yesterday. The employees said that many including the tahsildar and collectorate officials, called him every hour to inquire about the progress and insisted on it. Left and right political parties and employee organizations came forward, accusing the election commission of being responsible for the suicide. They also demanded that the SIR be postponed.

The BLOs are under pressure for giving them the additional work. BLOs across the state will boycott work today and will hold a protest march to the chief electoral office and collectorates under the leadership of the Action Council of State Government Employees and Teachers, the Teachers' Service Organization Samara Samithi, and the NGO Association.

Meantime, Aneesh's father George said that he had been tense for days. His mother is Mary and wife Famila, Livia and Juan are his children. Aneesh's funeral will be held today at the Lourdes Mata Church in Pallimukku.
