THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With only three days left for the filing of nominations for the local body elections, the three fronts are struggling to decide on the district panchayat candidates. There is not a single district where the announcement of candidates has been completed in all the divisions. It will be completed in some districts today, while a compromise attempt is ongoing in others. The crisis is that there are multiple candidates in the field in a single division, and there is no agreement on seats.

The UDF is being troubled by factionalism within the Congress in some districts. Youth wing leaders entering the field with the desire of candidature also became a challenge. The lack of harmony between BDJS and BJP is an obstacle in the NDA. The CPM-CPI dispute is the problem in the LDF in some places.

UDF has not announced a single candidate in any divisions in the Pathanamthitta district panchayat. The dispute with the BDJS is NDA's problem in the Kozhangeri division. It is learned that the dispute has been resolved. The dispute continues in the UDF in the Keezhmad division in Ernakulam. NDA should decide candidates in four divisions.

Discussions continue in Kottayam, Alappuzha

The UDF's announcement of candidates in the Kottayam district panchayat has yielded no results. Chandy Oommen's announcement of some names in some divisions has caused a fight in the Congress. The Muslim League and the Kerala Congress have put forward some demands. Although the UDF announced candidates in nine divisions in Alappuzha, discussions are still ongoing on the remaining seats. The LDF announced its candidates. The NDA's obstacle is that the BJP and BDJS have not reached an agreement in some divisions in the southern region.
