THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala’s major development achievements were made possible because the LDF was re-elected to power in the last assembly election. He was speaking after inaugurating the LDF’s Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Election Convention, held in front of a large crowd that braved heavy rain to attend.

He said that if the UDF had come to power in 2021, the state would have moved backwards. "When the UDF left office in 2016, the state was lagging in all major sectors. When the LDF came to power, the first priority was to study the problems in each sector and find solutions. Welfare pensions had arrears of 18 months. Laws and rules were amended to make the state more industry-friendly. Systematic steps were taken, and when the LDF returned to power in 2021, we were able to continue from where we left off. This is what helped Kerala become first in education, health, and industry. Just as the government announced the elimination of extreme poverty, our next goal is to wipe out general poverty as well. If the LDF receives a continued mandate in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation too, many more model initiatives can be implemented," the Chief Minister said.

CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan said that Thiruvananthapuram’s mayor is someone who has even been appreciated by the Mayor of New York. CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam said the LDF works for people’s development, not profit, unlike other fronts. All 101 Left candidates contesting in the Corporation elections attended the event. CPM district secretary V. Joy presided over the function. Ministers V. Sivankutty, G.R. Anil, MP A.A. Rahim, MLAs Kadakampally Surendran, V.K. Prasanth, Antony Raju, Mayor Arya Rajendran, M. Vijayakumar, Mankode Radhakrishnan, and leaders of coalition parties were also present.
