Kerala to receive heavy rainfall in coming hours; people in these two districts should exercise caution

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Various parts of the state are likely to receive heavy rainfall today. A yellow alert has been issued in two districts- Kozhikode and Kannur. The forecast warns of isolated heavy rainfall. Heavy rain refers to rainfall measuring 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

Rain is expected to continue in the coming days as well. A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts for the day after tomorrow, and for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki on Saturday. On Sunday, a yellow alert will be in place in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta.

Fishermen advisory Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Kerala coast today and the Lakshadweep coast today and tomorrow. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that fishing is allowed along the Karnataka coast today. Strong winds with speeds of 35–45 km/h, and in some cases up to 55 km/h, are likely along the southern Kerala coast, causing rough weather conditions. Similar conditions are expected today and tomorrow along the Lakshadweep coast and nearby sea areas, IMD warned.
