IMD predicts rain today; Yellow alert issued in seven districts
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains today. A yellow alert has been issued in seven districts. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam are on yellow alert. The possibility of isolated heavy rain has been predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.
The rain will continue in the coming days. A yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki tomorrow and in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam the day after tomorrow.
There is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather today with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and at times 60 kmph in the Andaman Sea and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. The IMD has said that there is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and at times up to 65 kmph in the South Andaman Sea.
Strong winds and bad weather with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and at times up to 60 kmph are likely in the Andaman Sea, southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal tomorrow and the day after.
